Working as a team, Christi Friesen and Tammara Scott bring you this gorgeous piece. The first in a seasonal set of two projects. The colors of fall just flow from this piece so that this whole project says abundance with a capital “A”. Color, detail, texture and don’t forget, fun. You will use mixed media techniques to make beautiful polymer clay tiles and the shining face of Mother Nature in the fall. Add beads and crystals to make the whole piece sparkle with the the glow of an illuminated manuscript. WEEKEND WORKSHOP Sept. 19-21 Darbella Studios Hollis, NH "Putting It All Together: Art Jewelry Creation" This is the workshop experience with more! Friday night kicks off the two-day weekend with a mini-class combined with food, drink and socializing - party time, with clay -- what more could you ask for?! This class will explore creating your own embellished polymer clay art jewelry. | WORKSHOPS Wednesday + Thursday Sept. 24-25 9am-4pm Paso Robles Art Assoc. Art Center 2208 Golden Hill Road, Paso Robles, CA Putting it all Together: mixed media sculpture with polymer clay, beads and more! Join award-winning artist Christi Friesen for this fun, informative weekend workshop. The class will focus on creating drama with polymer clay sculptural techniques and surface treatments as well as embellishing techniques using pearls, beads and other accents. Polymer clay is quickly becoming a media of choice for many fine artists, and this two-day workshop will open new doors of possibility. You will create your own unique work -- an art jewelry piece (full necklace, or multiple brooches) or a sculptural piece (an art vessel or wall piece). Class is perfect for all skill levels (from “never touched the stuff before” to “impress me”). Materials lists will be provided if you wish to bring your own, or materials/kits will be available at class. Tools provided, and you will be given multiple color handouts to keep. This full day class will explore sculptural techniques, and embellishing with a variety of beads and mixed media to create several pendants that will join together to create a spectacular necklace. Nov. 7 -half-day class: 9:00-1:00 Winged Jewel: Dragonfly & Leaves Focal Bead You will create a dragonfly and leaf combo pendant (or just the dragonfly if you prefer) complete with jeweled accents. Nov. 7 -half-day class: 2:00-6:00 Let Your Spirits Soar: Pegasus Focal Bead/Brooch In this class we will create a leaping, winged horse, complete with cabochon of glass or stone in the shoulder and lots of beaded accents. Nov 10-11 2-day workshop Autumn Cattails & Jeweled Dragonfly necklace This workshop will have it all - polymer clay sculpting, art jewelry design and composition, and of course assembling the final necklace. Emphasis will be on sculpting, with particular attention to adding beaded and jeweled embellishments. We will focus on color mixing, composition, and creative stringing (getting lots of excitement from simple stringing tricks).
